The Princess Bride
On April 29th, Kate Middleton, now Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge, showed the world that she has what it takes to be a style icon. She looked stunning in a lace gown designed by fellow Brit Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. The dress, along with the hair and makeup, will undoubtedly inspire brides for years to come.

DIY Matrimonial Makeup
Reports have it that Kate chose to do her own makeup, as a symbol of her laid-back, no-fuss style. Reportedly, makeup artist Arabella Preston gave the 29-year-old lessons before the big day. Kate's complexion looked flawless and matte—no shiny T-Zone for this bride. Rosy pink blush gave her a natural-looking flush, with blush concentrated on the apples and swept up toward the temples. Kate's full brows were filled in with a brown pencil, creating a dramatic frame for her large eyes. A neutral eye shadow was brushed all over the lids and a darker shadow applied from the eye line to the crease, creating a subtle smoky eye. Eyes were fully rimmed with black pencil and finished with mascara. The finishing touch: a soft pink lipstick that didn't rub off when she gave her new husband not one, but two kisses on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

Hair Royal Highness
Kate stuck with her usual hairstylist, James Pryce of the Richard Ward Salon and Metrospa, for her wedding day. The hair was pulled half-up over the tops of her ears and secured in the back. She had height near the crown, which helped secure her vintage Cartier diamond tiara. Her long brunette hair cascaded down in romantic ringlets, which would've been created with a medium-barrel curling iron.

Nailed It
Marina Sandoval, a manicurist from the Jo Hansford salon in London, did Kate's nails for the special day, combining two pale pink shades to create the soft look on Kate's short nails: Essie Allure and Bourjois Rose Lounge.

A Recognizable Change
Later, when Catherine changed into a silky ivory strapless gown (also by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen) and a matching ivory angora cardigan, she let her hair all down and loose. Her top tress priority? The bride insisted that she wanted to be recognizable to her Prince on their wedding day. She achieved this with simple, yet sophisticated styles, while still wowing an astounding number of viewers around world.
