Newlyweds Kate Middleton and Prince William will visit California this summer, St James' palace confirms.

They'll be in the the state from July 8 to 10. They'll spend the week prior in Canada, celebrating Canada Day in Ottawa on July 1. PHOTOS: Kate Middleton and Prince William say "I do"

It will be the first time Middleton has ever traveled to the U.S., and the first time Prince William has visited in an official capacity. PHOTOS: Famous royal weddings

Canada Prime Minister Stephen Harper  invited the couple to visit the country after they announced their engagement last November.

Canada is issuing stamps in honor of their visit. The Queen appears on currency in the country. She conducted her 22nd official visit last July.

The newlyweds will be separated for two-and-a-half months if the Royal Air Force posts Prince William in the  Falkland Islands, off the coast of Africa, next year. That is 8,000 miles away from the U.K.

Their ceremony set online streaming records, and beat out ratings from Princess Diana and Prince Charles' 1981 wedding. 22.8 million viewers and 18.6 million households tuned in in America, according to Nielsen stats.
